SpOtS!!

As some of you may have heard, we have been dealing with Kallie and her "spots" since Christmas. Some of you might be asking "what spots?". Here is the story: Around Christmas we notices a little rash on Kallie's arms and back of legs. Well instead of getting better, it got a whole lot worse. HUGE welts all over her body and face. Our pediatrician told us it was indeed hives and just to keep giving Benadryl and Zyrtec, since there was NO known trigger, and it could be viral. Well, after more than a month, she still had these hives that would NOT go away. So we take her to an allergist and the same thing, they can't seem to see what she would be allergic to, so the diagnosis...Chronic Hives. What is that seriously? How can that be a real diagnosis? So after a week and a half, she still has hives covering her body...face, fingers, ears...she looked hideous. (When people started doing a double take looking at her..that was it!) So I take her in again and still "Chronic Hives", but this time we tried a different medication, and BY-George it worked! She has been spot free for almost 2 weeks!
This picture was taken on a normal day of spots. Some days they are just light spots on her arms and some days big HUGE welts all over. She is such a trooper and takes her 2 antihistamines twice a day like it is no big deal. I just hope we wean her off and be SPOT FREE!

Wow! I had no idea. I'm glad that new med is starting to work, though. Chronic hives? Sometimes, I think they just make up diagnoses when they can't figure out what's going on.
